Bio

I am a dedicated researcher working at the intersection of higher education, education technology, learning sciences, and critical theory. Within these interests, I particularly center the ways in which technology design and pedagogy can be understood as value-laden social practices implicated within larger systems of power and oppression. My work wrestles with these questions both empirically and theoretically, as I draw on qualitative research methods and conceptual theory building to better understand the ideological foundations of teaching, learning, and education technology practices. My scholarship has been published in an array of venues, including the International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning, the Journal of Applied Instructional Design, and the Journal of Interactive Technology and Pedagogy. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education at Michigan State University. I completed my MA in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan and my BA in Music Education at Michigan State University.

Prior to my doctoral studies, I worked as an Emerging Technology Research Analyst at Grand Valley State University. In this role, I researched, evaluated, and implemented new technologies in support of teaching and learning initiatives across the university. Prior to GVSU, I also worked at the University of Michigan's Center for Academic Innovation where I designed MOOCs, online micro-credential courses, and extended reality projects. At the University of Michigan, I was also responsible for co-developing and coordinating the graduate certificate in learning experience design. This work entailed instructing graduate seminars and supervising a student residency experience.
